Cather in the Rye, The Literature Guide October 10, 2011
Reviewer: Jennifer Laxton from Killeen , TX United States
This is my third Literature guide purchase from Secondary Solutions and it is just as helpful as the other two.  Perfectly laid out and organized for the busy teacher.  Great for new teachers, especially, but good for teachers with a few years under their belt, as well.

The resources are useful, plus with the variety of different exercises to choose from each chapter, your not stuck using the same activity for each chapter.  Plus, activities can be pitch at different levels depending on the students ability and year group.

Perfect for Style Analysis! February 17, 2011
Reviewer: Sarah Howe from Baldwin Park, CA United States
I purchased this guide in preparation for teaching style analysis standards using The Catcher in the Rye.  This guide came in handy numerous times because of its focused standards based activities which truly target in on particular style elements such as tone, diction, and particularly syntax (which is very difficult for students to grasp).  The passages are already picked out and layed out on an easy to use handout that really helps guide daily lessons while maintaining direct instruction of standards.  I also highly recommend using the introductory assignments which help your students understand context, historical implications, as well as psychological aspects of the novel such as the 5 stages of grief. I found this guide to be the best tool when teaching this novel through a stylistic approach.  I would say it is hands down the best guide I've EVER bought from secondary solutions. It not only made my job easier, but it also made the text more accessible for my students.
